Roads flooded and bridges collapsed.

November 23, 2009

After what they are calling an unprecedented amount of rain which was a once in a thousand year occurrance, many roads throughout the Lake District still remain closed. All 1,800 bridges in Cumbria are being checked for structural damage which has caused misery to many and even death to a brave policeman. I had to travel along the main A591 from Ambleside to Keswick the day after and there were several landslides on the way as well as many areas of the road almost impassable.
